Does anyone know of an Instant Messanger Client that integrates with Zimbra?

None yet. This will be something we are working on. Just a matter of time.
Any progress on this? Or even a recommendation of a way to integrate something manually for now?
Thank you,
Chris
I can't speak for Zimbra about a time table, but you might get a preview of what Zimbra IM might look like if you try login in at https://yourzimbraserver/zimbra/?app=im. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Yup. Or
zmprov mc default zimbraFeatureIMEnabled TRUE
then log out and back in, you'll see a new app icon on the left hand side.
A few questions to the IM app.
- can I detach the IM window (like compose mail)
- i can add buddie's but what I need to enter ?
- a local Zimbra user fully qualified like hwinkel@<doman.com> ?
- a external IM contact like <user>@gmail.com ?
- somebody is in the GAL ?
- where can I see the presence status of a user ?
- in my Addressbook ? , hhm... external IM required then ?
- in the GAL ? how ?
Thanks a lot,
Holger
Holger, IM in general is just a preview/demo. It's not ready for prime time in the current release. You can add buddies with their full email adress in Zimbra. Presence will show up on the buddy list and in the status area (when there are changes).Originally Posted by hwinkel
Out of curiosity, is this XMMP based?
Any thoughts to integrating Jive wildfire (http://jivesoftware.org/wildfire/) as the IM system? It would appear to be a good match since it's Java-based, runs in Tomcat, and integrates with LDAP.
Cheers,
Matthew
