Default SOX compliant mailrestore (backup and restore of single instances/mails)

Hello,

due to legal reasons, we should be able to restore every single mail
without the help of the mailapplication(Zimbra).
Accordig common believe, this is only possible if all elements(mailbody,
attachements and all other meta data) of a mail are named the same
(with different extensions, of course).

What is Zimbra going to do in order to meet those requirements?

Any feedback is appreciated very much. Thank you.

John

Default File-per-message store

Zimbra stores messages as simple UNIX files in the filesystem, 1 message per file. They're grouped by mailbox, so all of a user's mail is stored under /opt/zimbra/store/0/<mailbox_id>/msg.

Note that this is not enough to guarantee SOX compliance, as deleted messages are purged from the store. Please vote for the archiving RFE if you'd like to see a real archiving feature.

Thank's dkarp,

yes something like that would be great! We really need SOX compliance otherwise, we simply cannot afford to implement/buy something without it.

Do you think that feature could also be used for single instance mail restore
for the case, a user deleted the wrong mail (as well the trash)?

Default Not sure that users would have archive access

That'd depend one whether users had archive access and on how the archive was implemented.

Hello,

does the current (Zimbra 4.5) "Archiving & Compliance Enforcement Solution"
allow fulltext-searches in the archive?

Thank's for any feedback!

Default I believe so.

Yes, I believe so. The archive is a separate mailbox and should be indexed like any other mailbox.

As much I do know, the "Archiving & Compliance Enforcement Solution"
does not yet have a GUI..

Do you mean, that "fulltext-searches" are possible from withing the OS
or is it an integrated feature of Zimbra 4.5?

Thank you!

Default Archiving & Compliance Enforcement Solution

Hi

1.
Can the ZCS super administrator restore a single mail (stored in the "SOX-archive") to a user-mbox (for the case the mail in question is not anymore available in the normal backup) ?

2.
Does the "Archiving & Compliance Enforcement Solution" actually (ZCS 4.5) support inserting the subject of the mail in the filename(mail) upon forking to the preselected address ? (That would make it easier to brose/file archived mails manually)

Cheers,

Martin
