Augment Zimbra with SMS capability

I want to augment Zimbra with SMS capability, i have seeen several SMS zimlets around, but my requirement is slightly different, in which, I want to have the webclient interface serve the users a web interaction for sending and recieving SMS through a gateway. I also need to persist the SMS on my Zimbra Server so that the users has a record of the SMS that he has sent and recieved. Hence enhancing Zimbra to be a unified platform for exchanging SMS, MMS along with Emails..

Any reference and guidance on how this can be implemented is much apreciated..

This is frustrating team.. Can anyone please guide or atleast share some information on this?? Isn't there any?
In an open source environment, support through forums is really apreciated, and specially in a scenario where the documentation of code is lacking to a great extent.. Lack there of is very discouraging for people to take it up and extend the functionality.. Hope some one will look at this..
