Default Global Address List / Newsgroup/ Rss/ Multiple Attachments

I would like to see both the scroll bars (vertical & horizontal) on at least the
listbox under the Search button so more of the email address could be seen as we would have staff and students/alumni with the same name as well as multiple students/alumni with the same name with a slight variant on their generated e-mail address.

In relation to the the drop down list of Address books/global address lists we would definetly need a facility where staff, students and alumni would need to be broken down into seperate group listings with the option as well to search all and ideally on each instance/mailserver to be able to set the staff address book as the default for the staffmail server so they would only search the staff address book otherwise they would have to select all Global Lists from the dropdown if they needed to search other addresses. The same would apply on the student email server in the student address book may be set as the default global list to search (should be customisable so that the
administrator can decide which address book is the default for the instance of Zimbra).

This feature along with some type of Newsgroup/RSS feature/plugin would probably swing our decision to go with Zimbra as opposed to the others we are looking at. With the Newsgroup feature/plugin that we have at the
moment, rather than allowing staff/students send allstaff or allstudent emails about anything and everything we have a newsgroup that is the first thing they see when they login and they can read the messages posted or post new ones (simply to post all they have is subject, message body, and an option to add a file). If they choose to ignore they click on the inbox and get up their mail (Maybe a tab before "Go To Mail" that could be set as default)

Another feature staff have asked for in existing mail app was that you could add multiple documents from the one folder all in one go.

Hope this helps
Andrew

if i may run this by you

you have three groups of users in your ldap tree
alumni
students
support-staff

if those users are currently seperated this way in you ldap tree then why dont you just add them as seperate external ldap server and label them by group,
this way i will do a search for "steve" across all and will come back with 17 steves, 3 in alumni, 9 in students, and 5 in support-staff.

Post search branches within an LDAP tree

Is it possible to search branches within the same LDAP tree
when composing an e-mail.

At the moment we use squirrelmail and we can select a
branch when composing a message e.g. staff, students etc.
i.e. multiple GAL's from one tree.

Also is it possible to resize the "Select Addresses" Dialog Box
which popsup when you click on "To:" when composing a message.

What if hovering over the name/address showed a tooltip with more complete information? Would that help? See bug 11047 for reference.
