Exclamation Zimbra Chat Client

I keep wondering why Zimbra has not bothered to develop a cutomized desktop application for its Instant Messaging, why leave it to chance?

A cutomized desktop client, possibly a java mobile client too will really be cool.

Wha do you think?

The answer might be because Zimbra is in the Collaboration Suite 'business' not the messaging server/client business? In any case, the IM server is being removed from Zimbra in future releases.

duh!
That sounds strange! Why would Zimbra remove the IM server, when MS Exchange server 2010 now features an IM??

Read the bug report for the reasons why.

Aside from that issue, while I can see an argument for including an IM client in Zimbra Desktop, there are plenty of standalone XMPP-standard clients.

Unclear to me if IM will make it into ZD, but this RFE is still alive: https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=30250
