Creating new panel applications

Is there a sample, documentation or starting point about creating new application panels in Zimbra (like a Outlook Today panel)?

This is not something we've exposed. In fact there really isn't an API for this. You may be able to do this with a Zimlet and just let it hover over the app at startup. If you want to create a entire new app and change the view that's a bit outside normal Zimlet work and would require lots of code changes. Unfortunately there is no doc or how-to for this. You'll just have to read the code and follow the examples in the Zimbra code itself.
