Calendar scheduling module.

I have a requirement to develop a event scheduling software and would like to use the scheduling feature from Zimbra open source. The software would need some additional fields and functionality while scheduling, as well as reporting features that aren't available in Zimbra. I would like to know how Zimbra can be used for this requirement. Is the scheduling component seperatable from the rest of the application? I don't want to use the email and other feature of ZCS.
