Pull Email Out Of Zimbra

I want to create a secondary application that can read emails from a zimbra mailbox. I'm not trying to create a client. I just want to be able to integrate the mail coming into a mailbox to enhance other programs like a helpdesk.

Is there anyway to go about pulling this mail box email out?

IMAP doesn't work for you? There is also the REST interfaces with pre-auth if you want to get fancy.
