Default wishlist - contacts autopopulated by global address book...

Hello everybody,

Finally got Zimbra up and running on FC 4 and I have a feature request... It would be nice if you could set an option to import the global address book into your contacts list all at once.

Assuming the GAL was browseable and name completion honored items in the GAL, would you still be intereted in having all the GAL entries in your contacts?

Actually, your idea and my idea would both be great features for two different reasons. Your suggestion would definitely help out with efficiency in sending messages. My idea was for the situation where zimbra was installed as an enterprise solution - it seems to make sense to me to have the entire GAL entries from the user's domain preloaded as the base contact list, maybe as a checkbox option or perhaps as a tab in the contact list (personal and global contacts or something of the sort)

So in summary answer to your question, I'd like all of the above, please :^)

I guess our point is why waste space and let a local user's copy of the GAL get outdated? If they can browse/search and also use it in auto complete what value does it have to actually copy and store the GAL in each user's local contact list?

It's not a copy and store thing, it's a display thing.

The data is already stored, it should be shown explicitly.

A GAL browser is on the roadmap.
