Make appointment with java

I'm just finding out about zimbra and I was wondering whether is possible to add new appointment in some shared calendar, using servlet or some automatic code, i.e. without using humans at all. Also if u add such appointment who will be the organizer, the account that the program used for logging in (if needed). And similar problems.
