You need to configure CPAN first.

Default configured CPAN ,still same problem

i have did the following steps

->main/Thirdparty/Perl (as root)
->mkdir -p /.cpan/CPAN
->cp MyConfig.pm /.cpan/CPAN/MyConfig.pm
->edit ~/.cpan/CPAN/MyConfig.pm, replacing BUILD_ROOT with path to Thirdparty/Perl
and (possibly) blanking our urllist param.
->verify paths to tar and gzip in config.

-> perl -MCPAN -e 'install "LWP"'

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i did this previously , and again now also i did still i am getting the same errors as mentioned above.

can u help me in fixing this problem.

I see at least two different errors, connection timeout and a usage error. Can you verify that the CPAN mirror you selected is actually working?

ftp://ftp.perl.org/pub/CPAN/authors.../TIMB/CHECKSUMS
this is existing (i.e CHECKSUMS)

but
ftp://ftp.perl.org/pub/CPAN/authors...MB/CHECKSUMS.gz
is not existing (i.e CHECKSUMS.gz is not existing )

IS THERE ANY WAY TO SOLVE THIS BY USING OTHER LOCATIONS OR OTHER MIRRORS

Pleas don't use capitals when posting as it's considered shouting and impolite.

Have you tried using a different mirror?

You need to edit MyConfig.pm to change the mirror options. Can I ask why you need to build from source? Seems your running into a bit of trouble and taking a binary release would have had you up and running some time ago.
