Default Message Notification/Fwding Formatting

We have a requirement to modify the functionality of either the message forwarding/message notification contents. I'm hoping the we can make this change via a config file change but we are willing to modify the source code if that is our only option. I'm looking for suggestions on how to make this modification.

Our requirements are to only send the first 160 chars of the message body in a message forward or a message notification. The subject, from, to headers can all be discarded....all we need is the message body, but we need to truncate it to only include the first 160 chars of the message.

Can this be done via the zimbra-attrs.xml file and ifso, how, and ifnot, can someone provide a brief starting point of the source code files I need to get started on the fix?

Thanks in advance for your help
Chris
