Default Zimbra client using Visual basic 6.0 (without AJAX)

I want to develop a zimbra mail client using visual basic 6.0. I do not want to use AJAX in web services.

What are the options available for a developer to do this.

Welcome to the forums

Zimbra is a complete collaboration suite and one of its strengths is the HTML/Ajax client. If you want to create your own email client then you can always connect using IMAP ? or use SOAP requests.

Default Thanks

Hello Uxbod,

Thanks for the reply. We do not want to use IMAP, in other words we are planning to develop a VB 5.0 client which will replicate all the features of outlook. We are planning to interface Zimbra server instead of the VB 5.0 client directly connecting to mail servers(VB Client will not understand mail protocols). We want features like Inbox, Outbox, Search , Attachment support etc(outlook features) all to there. For each of the features does Zimbra server support SOAP requests? I have seen some soap documentation for admin features(login etc), but have not seen the full blown Soap documentation for implementing the above said features. Can you please provide me links for the same? This would be much helpful.

Thanks,
Essar.

Sorry cannot help on that front ... Does seem like you are trying to re-invent the wheel though

I used VB 5.0 client as an example. We are planning to use an embedded linux based platform(which does not have a Web Browser). We are not trying to re-invent the wheel, instead planning to use Zimbra Server. Please let us know if such a support can be provided(commercial terms can be discussed) where each feature has a supported Web Service.

Thanks,
Essaar.

you can take a look at "Zimbra Desktop" Source Code..its open souce client which works on linux also specially done for zimbra..may be you can take it apart and see how it works and given correct credit to zimbra devlopers you can use it too ..i think it will reuduce your devlopemnt work a lot.
