Import odt to documents?

Working with Linux and using Openoffice, I can't understand, why as a linuxbased, open source software, Zimbra supports the import of doc and xls files, but not odt or ods!

Do I have really save all my documents with Openoffice in doc Format first?

Is there hope that Zimbra will support open standards?
