Default Lucene usable for fileshare on Zimbra server?

Hi,
I'm using Zimbra on an Ubuntu 8.04LTS installation. The Ubuntu server is also providing fileshares with samba.

Is it possible/a good idea to configure the zimbra search (that uses lucene) to include the fileshares for the search or should these things be kept separate?

Which version of Lucene is shipped with the latest Zimbra version?

No. It's a bad idea. not only are you creating more IO for lucene (which can already be pretty IO intensive), but who knows what will happen on upgrade.

o.k. thanks.
But some kind of integration would be useful, I think. When I think of a lucene based intranet search, would it be possible to add the index that was created by zimbra for the mail search to the intranet search engine?

Btw I would be interested in recommendations for (lucene based) intranet search tools. From a first search, Red-Piranha sounds interesting but seems to be quite dead? Regain looks promising: regain
Solr might be an overkill for me. (Intranet for 20 Users, I'd like them to be able to search the fileshares, a mediawiki installation and zimbra)...

Any other recommendations?

I just got regain to work and I love it.

Where does Zimbra store it's lucene index? I'd like to add this second index for querying with regain...
