Why don't you just download one of the pre-built 64bit binary install? In that case it's as simple as .install.sh (when you first posted ~ 1yr ago we didn't have 64bit builds but do now)

Thanks for the advice Kevin, that's great to know but I can't find the download you mention - overwork leads to blindness perhaps?.

Could you point me in the right direction.
