Default [SOLVED] User attributes in LDAP?

Hello,

I would like to be able to add some more attributes to Zimbra's user database. For example:

- I was building a custom application, which required entry of PIN. For this, we reused the postalCode (which we did not need) attribute and changed it's
translation to "PIN" in the user interface. Not pretty, but worked. Would be
great, if we could add such an attribute in such way, it would be visible
in all user creation/modification dialogs as simply another attribute. It would
also be great, if it survived Zimbra upgrade somehow.

- Adding some flags for other services. For example: Is this user allowed to do VoIP calls? International? What's his/her extension?

Is there a way to add custom attributes, query them via SOAP or LDAP
and add them to standard Zimbra administration console? I would rather not
have separate administration interfaces for users.

Thanks,

Juraj.

don't. i know it sucks, but it's pretty much guaranteed anything you do with ldap schema will not only get jumped on next time you upgrade, but will also likely interfere with standard running and upgrading of zimbra.

i do everything on another ldap server (fds) and just chain authentication through. you have to maintain two lots of user accounts (easy enough with scripts).

it would be really nice if zimbra was 'extendible', in particular it's ldap, as there are sooooo many things we could integrate if that was the case. look at the bodging that has to go one just to support samba - it's so complicated it's not worth it. it's a shame because zimbra guy greg went to a lot of trouble to integrate samba support - I would love to use it but it's not worth the hassle, so much easier to use a second ldap server for purposes outside of zimbra.

Default thanks

That's what I thought at first, but then I thought, that "oh man, this had to be considered by so many people"...

Will use the original backup plan: Zimbra for auth, external DB for extended attributes.

Thanks for answer.
