Mod Date of Contacts

In LmcContact.java class there is a property called modDate.
I would like to use this value to synchronize contacts with my CRM.
But i notice that if i create a contact from web interface or from soap interface, method getModDate() always returns a null value.
Can anyone explain me why? Should i set some property in any configuration?

Please use ZMailbox in the com.zimbra.cs.zclient package instead. The Lmc* code in the com.zimbra.cs.zclient package does not appear to be maintained.
