Autocomplete from addressbook

I would like to have the addressbook use the GAL for autocomplete. So far I've not been able to find this as an option. Is there a bit of javascript or backend code I could change to make the addressbook use BOTH the zimbra LDAP instance and a second (or third) LDAP instance?

Is there an ETA for when this will be done? Is it sometime soon, or should I be digging arround in com.zimbra.cs.account.ldap?

We don't make guesses on dates until they are committed to a release. So no guess on date here.
