Default Suggestion for source availability

Hello!

I am very excited about the open-source availability of Zimbra! Especially in light of the fact that my company is going to be using Zimbra for all of our email and calendaring needs.

I notice that the only method provided for obtaining the source code of zimbra is through p4, which is (a) proprietary (that is, there is no open-source client that can be used to obtain the source code) and (b) often unavailable (as for example the time of this writing, all of my attempts to use p4 result in "Report depot 'depot' database access failed. Partner exited unexpectedly.")

It occurs to me that one way to work around both of these problems is to provide a link to download the source code corresponding to the 5.0.9 GA release on the download page (community / downloads.html) -- that is, in addition to the binary tarballs for various distributions and operating systems, provide a source tarball as well.

Thanks for your consideration!

Cheers,

bn

I second this, would be a great idea. Even when available, the public p4 release branches don't seem to be exactly the same as the zimbra releases.

Since that thread's pinched, I'll ask here:

It's difficult to build tarballs from nightlies?

Or it's difficult to build tarballs from *releases*?

Cause the latter is probably what more people are looking for, and it would see a touch easier...
