    Post

    Hi,

I couldn't resolve my problem using a virtualbox, so I decided to restart the work on my host machine (within the binary solution works fine). First, I remove the binary solution, then I applied this tutorial exactly Ubuntu Hardy - Setup Build Environment
And at the end I find the same problem (the configuration of openldap)!

Comparing this install with the binary one, I find that in my install (from source) the /opt/zimbra/conf contain only one file (dspam.conf) and only one directory (spamassassin), but in the /conf of the binary install (I saved all the zimbra directory before removing the binary installation) I find 148 files and 4 directories!!!
    Is this normal?
I can't find the problem anywhere!

For the host `hostname` gives me this:
monaco.*****.net is an alias for www.*****.net.
    www.*****.net has address 19*.***.*.**6
Sorry for the *** but I can't put the exact adresse of a company as it appear for security reasons.

    Thanks in advance

    hi

i produced the community binaries from ubuntu from that tutorial, so it does work!

are you still trying to do a dev install, or make a full binary package?

No, I tested the binary solution, it works fine, so I decide to move to the production level by developping "my zimbra"
So I am in the developing level, but I didn't start developing yet because of this error.
For this tutorial, it is about building Zimbra from source...all is went well but at the end..this problem!!!

Although I haven't got a help, I will continu to post my progress in order to help others and perhaps someone can help me in another level.

    Well, Iexecute this command:

    Code:
    zimbra@monaco:~/bin$ ./zmaccts
    sh: /opt/zimbra/bin/ldapsearch: not found
    zimbra@monaco:~/bin$ cp /opt/zimbra.old/bin/ldapsearch /opt/zimbra/bin/
    zimbra@monaco:~/bin$ ./zmaccts
    ldap_bind: Can't contact LDAP server (-1)
Then, I copied the /conf et /libexec from the binary install and I put them under /opt/zimbra, after that and when I execute ./zmcontrol start I have got this

    Code:
    zimbra@monaco:~/bin$ ./zmcontrol start
    Host monaco.*****.com
            Starting ldap...Done.
    FAILED

    So I copied this directory

    zimbra@monaco:~/bin$ ./zmcontrol status

A little progress but I still searching the solution any help

    Hi every body,

I tried this command as root:
    Code:
    openldap-2.3.41.6z/libexec/slapd -d7 -l LOCAL0 -4 -u zimbra -h ldap://localhost:389 -f /opt/zimbra/conf/slapd.conf
I have many line..but at the end..I have got:
    Code:
    backend_startup_one: starting ""
    bdb_db_open:
    bdb_db_open: dbenv_open(/opt/zimbra/openldap-data)
    slapd starting
So I open a second terminal and I execute as zimbra user:
    Code:
    ./ldap status
    I have got:
    Code:
    slapd running pid: 13402
It seams that I solved the problem..but:
    Code:
    zimbra@monaco:~/bin$ ./ldap status
    slapd running pid: 13402
    zimbra@monaco:~/bin$ ./ldap start
    slapd already running: pid 13402
    zimbra@monaco:~/bin$ ./zmcontrol status
Unable to determine enabled services from ldap.

    zimbra@monaco:~/bin$ ./zmcontrol start

    Re: Hi

So, I fixed the one part of the pb, in fact some config files (that I import them from the binary installation) contain a wrong information (an information that it was updated (the machine name), so after correcting them I have this result:

    Code:
    zimbra@monaco:~/bin$ ./zmcontrol start
    Host monaco.*****.net
            Starting ldap...Done.
Unable to determine enabled services from ldap.
Unable to determine enabled services. Cache is out of date or doesn't exist.
    zimbra@monaco:~/bin$ ./zmcontrol status
Unable to determine enabled services from ldap.
Unable to determine enabled services. Cache is out of date or doesn't exist.
    zimbra@monaco:~/bin$ ./ldap status
    slapd running pid: 18128
    Any idea? any word???

Check in /opt/zimbra/conf/localconfig.xml that you have the correct LDAP settings and
    Code:
    su - zimbra
    zmlocalconfig | grep -i ldap

I don't think this has much to do with building. This is an LDAP problem. Zimbra relies upon ldap for all other services, if it doesn't start, nothing starts.

That's what's happening. So we need to focus there.

    What happens when you

    su - zimbra
    ldap start
