Disable imAddress3 in Contact

I am using the imAddress3 field as a location for the primary key used between multiple synchronizing systems. What is the easiest way to disable this field so a user will be unable to make modifications to this field?

Why use that field? The contacts API will let you set/get any property so just create your own property, set that and it will never show up in the UI.
