Just out of interest, I took a look at how Outlook webmail handles this, and it has the controls on a separate line. Plus, it doesn't tell you the message number, so you avoid the 999+ messages issue. Having worked in IT in an SME for many years, I can confirm that those sort of numbers are (sadly) not unusual.

Most of our computers use 800x600 also so having this resolved is an excellent idea in my opinion too. I realise that the the prereq is 1024x768 and 800x600 is old but so are a lot of our employees and we share our computers so I cannot use the smaller fonts.
