Developer install and binary instalation earlier

Hi
I have already Zimbra binary release installed on my system. Since I need to do some modyfications I want to performe a developer install, but as i read I shouldn't do that on a system that has had a binary release installed on it earlier. What should I do? Just uninstall the Zimbra first would be ok ?
