Default Zimbra port to BSD

I would like to see a port to BSD for Zimbra FreeBSD 6.3 and 7.x. Please sign the petition to express interest to the development team.

Zimbra port for BSD Petition

Thanks,

This is open source, so a community submission of a BSD port is much better than a petition.

I haven't spoken to anyone at Zimbra about this lately, been patching, building and hosting the builds myself (well until yesterday when I accidentally deleted the website, aargh). Previous requests to Zimbra a while ago indicated it wouldn't be considered for inclusion and would have to remain a fringe project.

However it's now in a fairly decent state, several people have tested, installed and are running it and imho would be a great plus for Zimbra to include.

Assuming you've signed a contributor agreement I'd love to see the changes put back into the source for both the solaris and freebsd platforms.

We will unlikely be able to offer supported binary downloads for either platform but having the support in the source will make it easier for anyone to generate ongoing builds.

Yeah, I'd be willing to incorporate patches back into the build tree if the contributors agreement is in place. I was going to look at this for 5.0.x originally but third party was undergoing large restructuring at the time so I kept putting it off. It's now in a place where this would be feasible.
