Default Extend Application Architecture ?

Is there any kind of technical architecture document that outlines how Zimbra should be extended with other applications?

Also is there a Development Map/Schedule for new features?

Zimbra has a great base for groupware. I'd like to be able to over time develop additional applications, hopefully with help from the OS community, that can be intergrated with the existing applications. In order to do this in an organized way it would be great if we are all on the same page.

Another groupware solution, egroupware, has an architecture document a development schedule/map and an example getting started doc and example app for people who want to extend the product.

Any thoughts direction on this? If not it would be good for us to extend this thread with some of the Zimbra developers to see if we can get something going.

Many additions could be as simple as developing AJAX interfaces to existing open projects.. using the mash-up guide...

I guess if that is the way you advise extending Zimbra then we could just use the http://www.zimbra.com/blog/archives/...pers_guid.html

However it seems that some things might be best as actual extensions to the core application.

Thanks,

Kevin Baker

Well we have some PDF's that cover the high-level arch. If you want to get down and dirty with the code then you'll want to check out the dev docs. ZimbraServer/docs/INSTALL.txt is the 1st which will get you setup with a developer env.

Great this is a good start. I set aside next week to start taking a closer look at the Zimbra source code.

Great project very excited!
