Default Solaris 10 5.0 build released!

UPDATE: March 12th 2008
===============

Varlogmessages website accidentally deleted and redone from scratch . Binary installers and source code+patches+documentation available. FreeBSD work in progress.

UPDATE: Feb 25th 2008:
==============

5.0.3_2005-TEST8 released.

Downloads - VarLogMessages

Release highlights:
- Synced to 5.0.3_2005 sourcetree
- SPARC and x86 binaries
- Zone support
- SMF support
- Runpath hinted libraries
- Upgrades (might be) supported from previous release, including old 4.5.4 TEST2/TEST3 Solaris releases.
- Full source code and patches released, build docs in progress

UPDATE: Feb 4th 2008:
==============

5.0.2_1982-TEST7 released. This fixes numerous installer/upgrade bugs - clearly I hadn't tested this on a clean system. Sorry about that, this one should work much better.

VarLogMessages

A few notes:

- A new dependency package with installer script - this is installed before zimbra and automatically takes care of all necessary dependencies for you.

- Amavisd children reduced to 4 from standard 10 - seems this build of the perl stuff is not very memory-efficient.

- Increased java stack heap to 512k - standard 256k doesn't work well. Also mapped out threaddumps through platform conditional as this doesn't seem to work at all otherwise with the usual consequences.

- Next release should have SMF integration. Self-healing will be looked at but initial investigation suggests it may conflict with internal zcs watchdogs.

- Next release should be zone aware/compliant.

- This release WILL NOT work with Solaris Express. Sorry, will look at that in the future.

- If anyone could donate the use of a SPARC box for a couple of days would be much appreciated, I would love to get a SPARC build out.

Have fun! Please let me know how you get on, in particular any bugs/problems you have installing and running.

Jan 26th 2008 - Original Announcement:
=======================

Hi

Finally, I think i've got the solaris port to a stage where it's ready for people to test. Hopefully it won't do anything horrible, but let me stress:
DO NOT USE THIS IN PRODUCTION!!!

This is a first test build of Zimbra 5.0.2 for Solaris 10 x86. It should install and run without hiccups. There will be lots of bugs, guaranteed. Feedback, suggestions, comments, flames, rants gratefully received.

Thankyou very much to Zimbra for giving us early access to their source tree, making this port possible. Now I can track against a moving source, it makes patching the tree very easy, so I intend to produce releases pretty often - possibly every week or two to start with, and will support this myself in the long term if Zimbra don't decide to merge it with the main codebase.

Thanks so much for sticking with this. Now I'll use your documentation to get it build on a spare blade 100 I have sitting here.

I think the documentation warns not to use it to build yet! Sorry, I haven't been a good boy and documented as I went along. I'm producing another build this weekend with some fixes, will try and produce the docs and patches as well.

So far so good, great job. I'm building the SMF xml scripts right now.
These are the basic dependencies I think Zimbra should have. Suggestions or additions please comment.

Depends what you mean by "donate"; if you mean gain remote access to one, then I might be able to help (is a T1000, to be specific).

Default site removed?

Hello dijichi2:

I've been trying to access your updated release on your website, but it appears to be down now for a couple of days... is this only temporary or has your site been taken down permanently (or changed)?
