There's an old(?) thirdparty distributable at SourceForge.net: Files. However, I'm reasonably certain it's not in synch with 5.0 GA.

One specific issue is that 5.0 GA now refers to a windows service called 'CDSSilverSlapd' for LDAP whereas in RC2 it referred to the service as 'openldap directory service' - this change causes the standard 'ant reset-all' command to fail. Looking at the instructions in INSTALL-win.txt it looks like we (i.e. the developer community) need an updated ThirdParty distributable. The specific point in the file which is of interest reads:

6. Install OpenLDAP, get it from p4: main\ThirdPartyBuilds\windows\openldap

What you want to install is the CDS Silver build.

On Windows, install to c:\opt\zimbra\openldap. Then go to the
openldap directory and run "slapd install" to install it as a
Windows service.

Can one of the Zimbra gurus please clarify how us external people are meant to build 5.0 GA?

Many thanks
J.

the sourceforge stuff is waay out of date. zimbra has kindly setup a public conduit to their internal perforce source tree which is currently undergoing testing. i think it will be released once it has been tested and documentation written on the build process. the thirdparty directory is part of this new source tree, and is quite signficantly different from 4.x trees.

That's obviously great news. Do you know the timeline for the source tree being made available? In the meantime, is there a short-term solution to the LDAP problem? i.e. has anyone managed to successfully build 5.0 GA outside the Zimbra dev team?

As usual, many thanks in advance for help/advice.

Apologies for hassling, but can any of the Zimbra dev team answer this please just so we know whether or not to revert to 5.0RC2?

Many thanks,
J.

It's currently being built per our instructions for RHEL on Building Zimbra using Perforce - Zimbra :: Wiki

Once I'm sure it builds, The page will be updated.
