Language selection for spellchecker in mail

Hi,

When you now compose a message in you're mailbox, it automatically detects you're browser language and uses that for spellchecking. But I write e-mails in 3 different languages and would like to be able to choose which language the spellchecker uses to check my contents.

In addition it would be great if i could build a custom dictionaire to train the spellchecker to ignore certain names and words we use often... But that has less priority

First one was a comment in an existing RFE : Bug 8018 - Add the ability for the user to override the browser locale setting

And second one is : Bug 4495 - Support per-user dictionary for spell checking

I guess a new RFE should be opened for the spelling.

Well the rfe you point to 8018 seems not the same to me. I think that item intends a mailbox preference. I mean a choice per e-mail so each individual e-mail sent should be able to select the language. not as a preference for my entire mailbox.

I was pointing comment #12 (I made this comment) : the ability to have the spell check working in the same language than the UI one.

Currently, if you install french dictionnary (that's the one I know best) for the spell check, it will only work in french... No more english (even if you're using the english UI).

But you're right, you want to go one step beyond : the ability to choose the language you want for each message (and not for the current UI language).

Please open a RFE in the bugzilla and don't forget to vote for it.
