Default Working Great

I tested the addon and it's working greate. I have some sugestion for future releases:

- Select which address book you want to syncronize
- In case of conflict, choice which one will preserve.

Maybe the owner of the addon will like to upload it on SourceForge.net: Welcome to SourceForge.net so other developers that are want to improve the addon (like me) can help.

> If you are having trouble getting Zindus to work, try removing any LDAP address books ...

Thanks to Phil for reporting this - the bug is now fixed.

The fix will find it's way into the stable version in due course but if you are urgent to have it and are using the testing/preview release, you can get it via the normal Thunderbird Tools/Addons/Find Updates.

I tried zindus yesterday night against a fresh 5.0-rc2 installation. Doesn't work both with my server and demo2.zimbra.com .
Maybe this extension works only with zimbra stable release ?

Cheers

Yes, someone else has reported a sync failure with RC2. Testing against the 5.0 release candidate is clearly incomplete. This will get sorted over the next week or two. Syncing against the 3.x or 4.x series should work fine.

Default Shared Address Books

Wow, great add-on, thanks!

I automatically got "zindus/Emailed Contacts" and "zindus>GAL" on thunderbird after syncing, but not an address book another user shares with me. So I created in thunderbird the addressbook "zindus/sharedaddressbook name" and the hit "Sync Now" and something strange happend:

zindus synced the other address books as always and then wrote

---
zindus: server saving: ### of 1
---

with ### beginning at 0 or 1 and increasing forever (after 6500 I canceled the sync). And there are just about a hundred entries in the shared address book.

Is there anything I can do to get shared address book support?

Regards,
CrypTom

Shared Address Books are in the pot with the other things that don't sync at the moment, see: zindus » FAQ » What isn’t synchronized?

The "server saving: ### of 1" is a bug - will get filed and fixed.

This is very cool, now that I can get it to work (my problem was LDAP address books as well.) I do have some oddities with duplication, but I'm 90% sure its because of my setup. (Using Apple and iSync, but setup TB to test this out.)

So, somewhere is this process:
Apple Address Book <-> iSync <-> Zimbra <-> zindus <-> TB

Are some oddities, duplication, and dropped attributes. I'll play with it more, and see if I can get some of my TB-only users running it.

Fair warning to Mac Users.

If you already use the Zimbra iSync Connector, you will be bitten by this bug when you sync your TB.

Bug 21738 - Change of a contact's primary email address in iSync Connector.

Luckily, this will only be an issue if you want the contacts "work" email address to be primary email address. If you are using it for home and have everyone's home email address, you'll be fine.

If only we could get Apple to move to the email/email2/email3 scheme instead of home/work/other, we would be all set.

Works great...
Would be perfect with :
- sync of contact lists
- ability to not sync the GAL (an external ldap for us, so no need to sync)
