Default Zimbra Calendar

Hi everybody,

I wanna to extract only calendar module from the zimbra project. Can somebody help me how to extract it or at least disable other modules and i can only see calendar. Besides this, there is a page ''ZimbraWebClient/public/launch.html",
where there are three links, 'Mail', 'Calendar' and 'Contacts', but non of the links work. How I can enable them.

Regards,

Asif

You could get close (the mail tab really doesn't turn off)

You would turn off:
COS/individual user > features tab>
Address Book
Documents
Conversations
HTML compose
Zimbra Mobile (if your an ne customer)
IMAP access
POP3 access
External POP3 access
you can also find and turn off:
Allow the user to specify a forwarding address (preferences section as well)
Mail Filters
Out of office reply
New mail notification
Mail Identities
etc

COS/individual user > Advanced tab
Email message lifetime -It's the number of days a message can remain in any folder before it is automatically purged. A value of 0 means email messages are not deleted. So you could set it to a low value (above 0) to keep stuff out of the mail tab.
Suppose you could also set the spam message lifetime & trashed message lifetime to something like one day.
And most importantly to prevent mail...disable in/out access to port 25 on your server...

You'll want to leave on:
Sharing
Navigation Shortcuts
Tagging (not yet in cal-but you will be able to tag in calendars shortly)
Advanced search (cal search is being finalized)
Saved searches (cal search is being finalized)
GAL access (for ease of sharing cals)
Autocomplete from GAL (again sharing cals)

Hello,

I have the same idea to use only calendar and adress book, but not mail application. Is there a way to hide "Mail" tab in Zimbra 4.5 ?

Thanks...

Non.

As you already asked elsewhere (and was answered elsewhere), it's not possible at all.

Zimbra is a collaboration application that heavily relies on mail.

Anyway, why keeping another mail system and try to use Zimbra's calendar as stand alone ?

Heu... I don't think I already asked this... If so, then I'm sorry.
[edit] => Oh, OK ! I just understood. You certainly refer to message I posted on french forum at the same time. But I think I may have more responses on official/international Zimbra forum. That is why I posted on 2 forums.[/edit]

People who will use Zimbra as Calendar (integrated within a specific software) have a specific external secured mail system (medical domain). So at this time, I don't know whether we will have utility to use Zimbra mail or not.

Yup, that's it (french forum) and now I understand a bit more of the problem.

Is the specific software already integrated in Zimbra's calendar (zimlets ?) ?

If not, why not choosing a dedicated calendaring solution ?
Zimbra's great but unfortunately can not handle all the needs 8)

Not yet. And this is not the software that will be integrated in Zimbra, but rather Zimbra that will be integrated in the software (even if there may be also 1 or 2 portlets).

I choosed Zimbra for :
- its open source state and community activity
- the rich AJAX web client
- the technology used (Java and not PHP)
- the ability to plug zimlets without having to enter in Zimbra code
- I think it has a great potential (connectors with smartphones...)
- And maybe Zimbra Mail will finally be used, at least in the future

But I would be interested if you know other calendaring solutions having about same advantages and written in Java.
