Default Problem deleting or changing events with Lightining

I have the following setup, Zimbra 5.0.14 with Thunderbird 2.0.0.21 and Lighting 0.9

Can create calendar entries in Lightining, however when attempting to modify or delete them receive a message modification failed.

In Thunderbird the following is logged in the error console:

Warning: There has been an error reading data for calendar: Big Meeting Room. However, this error is believed to be minor, so the program will attempt to continue. Error code: DAV_PUT_ERROR. Description: There was an error storing the item on the server.
Error: An error occurred when writing to the calendar Big Meeting Room! Error code: MODIFICATION_FAILED. Description:

Line: 952

In mailbox.log - when modifying an item I see the following appear:

HELP!!!! - any help or suggestions would be very, very appreciated at this moment as this was an install for a charity to replace an old creaking Exchange server and it has not gone too well.

Thanks, Mark

Additional info: I've also tried ICS - can create events but either errors when deleting or the reappear when Reload Remote Calendars is done. Had a test machine here with Zimbra on it and get the same problems with CalDav and ICS.

Have I missed something silly during the setup?

Mark

I would just like to add that I have exactly the same issue.

Did anybody find a solution?

The Error in the log is:

After much grief I have now managed to get a working calendar syncing with Zimbra:

I installed the following:
wget http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozi...rd-3.0.tar.bz2
wget -c http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozi.../lightning.xpi

And attached the Zimbra calendars using CalDEV.

It all works now. I can't give an exact reason why it worked, but I also had to remove and reload my https certificates for the zimbra site.

Hope this helps someone

Cheers

Default Zimbra + Lightning Event updates do not work

This is a bit delayed in response, but here is an explanation of the problem being described...

When an event or event update is sent to a Zimbra user, Zimbra automatically processes the event message. In some instances, this can be disabled - e.g. unchecking the 'auto-accept' and 'auto-decline' boxes for various accounts/resource preferences. Those same instances can also be disabled via the CLI. However, it does not appear that there is a way to disable auto-accept of "update" event messages.

So, when an event message trickles in (via e-mail) to an event invitee, Thunderbird receives the invite complete in iCal format. Before the user (usually) gets to it, though, Zimbra processes the event. Processing the event causes Zimbra to update the iCal event, which modifies the iCal sequence number. The user then comes along and attempts to accept/reject or otherwise update the event, and... BAM! Lightning's record of the iCal event has an older sequence number, and when it goes to send the update, gets a message back from the Zimbra server saying the event sequence is outdated. Rather than recovering gracefully from the situation, Lightning marks the calendar as "in error" and stops working with that calendar until restart.

There is a Lightning bug open for its poor handling of this condition. It is Bugzilla Bug 459689.

That sounds like a good description of what is happening, but I change events all the time - no problem (thunderbird/lightning) - what I am experiencing is that while I can create, change, and view zimbra calendar events fine in thunderbird (lightning), i just can't delete them [from inside lightning].

PS. but the zimbra cal seems to work GREAT from my iphone! (zcs) - I've seen other posts that say that exchange-cal in iphone works fine with zimbra enterprise, but I just use caldav, and it seems great on the iphone!

I am also experiencing this issue with being unable to dismiss alarms. The error message I receive is MODIFICATION_FAILED and is consistent with what others have described here. I seem to be able to dismiss events without a problem as long as they do not have any attendees. Any events with attendees exhibit this problem in my testing.

I've attached the console output from Thunderbird during my tests of a successful dismissal, a failure, and a failure with MODIFICATION_ERROR.

mickier - that seems to be a response for ICS calendar users only.
