Caldav - accept invitations to local calendar only

I have several Mac users who have this issue with Caldav integration. If they receive a calendar invite, they can only accept it into a local calendar, not the remote Caldav calendar. They currently have to login to the web interface and accept it there.

Is there any way to change this?

Are you able to invite people into your meetings from iCal? I can only invite by manually typing the full email address or by typing a name of an Address Book group (there, autocompletion is supported).
