Default Order of migrated email addresses.

ZCS and the web interface seem to store contacts email addresses as 'email', 'email 2' and 'email 3'. Address book keeps an order, but allows the user to change the usage of the email address. For me, the default looks to be work, home, other.

I think there is a problem with how the iSync connector relates the two systems. However I can no find any forum post or bug about it. Before I create a bug, I would like some outside collaboration of what I am seeing.

---

Some of our users use both Mac w/ iSync, and the web interface, depending on their needs at the time. Mostly because of the improved calendaring in the web interface. One such user reports the calendar pages of the web interface keeps trying to change email addresses to "home" email accounts.

From what I am seeing, the iSync connector maps the email addresses as such.
  • Email <-> Home
  • Email 2 <-> Work
  • Email 3 <-> Other

For people that switch back and forth, this causes some issues. Do other people see this behavior, or do I have something mis-configured?

Your observation is correct. The iSync Connector maps email addresses as:

email <-> Home
email2 <-> Work
email3 <-> Other

I'm not sure I understand what was said about the calendar part of the Web Client remapping email addresses to type 'Home' however. Could you clarify for that for me?

Thanks,

Scott

This is what the user said he was doing.
  • UserA syncs Address Book via iSync connector.
  • UserA logs in to web interface to manage calendar.
  • UserA, while editing an appointment, uses "work" email address of UserB in the "attendees" section of the Appointment details section.
  • UserA submits changes.
  • Before the changes are processed, UserA is given a pop-up:

---
Title: Send Updates to attendees
You have made changes to the address list:
Added: UserB@home.address
Removed: UserB@work.address

O Send updates only to added or removed attendees.
O Send updated to all attendees.
---

I told UserA to change his personal Contacts so that UserB's work address was the first entry. He no longer had this issue. However, given the iSync connector's mapping, now his Address Book is labeled incorrectly.

Is there a way I can change the mapping on the server? As this is a company system, we would like the "work" address to be the primary address in a user's contact list. Should I make a proper bug / feature request for it?

Yes, please make a feature request for this.

Thanks,
