On the heels of all that's packed into Beta 1, we are pleased to announce: Beta 2 of the Zimbra Collaboration Suite 6.0

Key Enhancements:

» Task list synchronization with external iCal services.

» The ability to create Presentations (new) & Spreadsheets (previously seen in notebooks) from the web-client briefcase.


» Auto-complete for common search operators.

» Font size controls when printing.

» Standard web-client drag/drop of messages & conversations.


» Mobile & Standard client GAL searches.

» zimbraPrefMailForwardingAddress can take a comma separated list.

» Resource & location reservation across domains.

Admin Highlights:

» Query based MoveBlobsRequest to transfer items between storage volumes.

» Dynamic, custom stat graphs in the admin console & /var/log/zimbra-stats.log


» zimbraSmtpHostname is now fault-tolerant.

» zimbraMax[MailItems/Contacts/VoiceItems]PerPage counterpart to zimbraPref[]PerPage.

» Extension blocking is done at both the Postfix header and Amavis level which scans inside embedded archives for unauthorized extensions.

» zmjavawatch script to find runaway Java threads.

» zimbraMailPurgeUseChangeDateForTrash instead of received date.

» Posix & Samba extension users should understand UNIX & Windows Accounts in Zimbra LDAP/Admin UI 6.0 & Installing custom LDAP schema 6.0


It's an evaluation beta, so we don't recommend production use, but for those developers and early adopter admins who 'live dangerously': It is crucial that you make a backup before upgrading, and please do so regularly.

Even if your the more cautious type when it comes to brand-new versions: We highly encourage finding time to take it for a spin on an isolated server, VM, or personal setup; the number of cutting-edge features is simply staggering.

» ZCO header/on-demand subscription mode.
