It is an uml instance (virtual).
ulimit returns 10000

zimbra soft nofile 10000
zimbra hard nofile 10000

You're running out of file descriptors, probably - that's why it won't let you fork.

And what can I do about this? Is this problem caused by uml?

It's probably UML, though I can't be sure.

In general virtual servers don't work great. (That said, I've had pretty good luck with VMWare.)

But everything works atm except sending mails... Is there a way to see how many file descriptors can be used and how many are in use?

Or is there something else I can do? Or can i turn amavisd off?

Not sure what to tell you about the virtual machine - you'll have to read the docs on it.

You can turn amavis off, but you may hit the FD limit somewhere else, too.

Amavis can be controlled via the admin console.

Marcmac, seems it was caused by to low on memory. Increased memory, and now it is sending mails.

Thanks for your help. So sending mails is also now working in Debian in an UML :-)

Tommie thanks a lot for the help yesterday, i just didnt knew that a missing aliases.db was enought to the whole system wouldnt start correctly..

but now it seems to run smoothly, i just need the last thing.

I can send emails without any problems, and it seems like i receive the emails just as fine, but the never show up in my inbox, anyone has a clue of what is going on? This is my syslog while im receiving an email.

Its seems like something in my networks is setup wrong? My computer is behind a firewall, so i dont know if i should open anything but port 25 to the computer?

Is test.hollo.dk your box? Is that the correct IP? Can it talk to itself on port 7025 for lmtp delivery?

If no, you'll either need to fix your firewall, add your domain MX record to DNS, or turn off DNS lookups and set up a relay host. (This is all covered in the forums)

Port 7025 replies, and my firewall, if I only need to have opened up port 25, this is all done, and i know my mx is fine, else the box wouldnt receive that email. then there is only the dns lookup thingie back.. i will look around in the forum, thanks.
