New servers, need help

Hello guys,

What we need to do is plan a migration of every service to it's new server and zimbra is on the list.

The old zimbra server is running rhel4 but the new one is running rhel5. We are going to switch hostname (including domain).

Any ideas on how should i accomplish this? I was thinking on doing an imap-sync but don't know if it's a good idea.

Currently, only the 5.0 beta is available on RHEL 5.

So, in order to get it to work, you may need to use some of the workarounds that were posted to the installation forum.

You are right.

I thought you guys were going to release an update for zimbra 4.5 for rhel5. Actually i thought the 4.5.6 update was supported under rhel5.

What would you recommend, should i stick with rhel4 until 5.0 is released or should i upgrade right away?

I generally only recommend only supported OSes.

The reason is, when you upgrade, I don't know how the upgrade script will react, and it will likely fail.

So, my recommendation is to stay with RHEL 4 until ZCS 5.0.

Others may have different recommendations.
