Default DNS SRV records?

There are notes in the User Migration and REST wiki pages to the effect that if you publish certain SRV records, free/busy lookups can work across domains.

I cannot find any examples in practice or in the forums/wikis/bugzilla. Does this still work, or was this just a trial balloon in early stages of development?

Bump... so is this originally contemplated feature officially gone, then?

Doesn't the example in the wiki tell you what to do?

One last interesting example to leave you with. Lets say you have a friend at widgets.com who you know is running Zimbra and who has shared their calendar with you, but you don't know the name of their public Zimbra server. As long as they publish some DNS SRV records for _zimbra._tcp.widgets.com, then you can access it directly from your Zimbra without needing to know his server's address:

http://server/zimbra/user/friend@widgets.com/calendar

This last format (user@domain.com) is also necessary when accessing resources in a non-default domain on your local Zimbra server.

Yes, but it doesn't seem to actually do anything. Sniffing traffic, the Zimbra server isn't doing any DNS SRV lookups.

If the feature is gone, this isn't surprising. The proportion of email domains running Zimbra is not terribly high, and some extremely silly people might interpret SRV lookups as attacks. Just wondering.

As far as I know nothing has change since that was written. I'd suggest a support request to get a definitive answer.
