Default sending zimbra alerts via jabber

Hi There,
in our small office i want to migrate from desktop email clients to zimbra web client. But i have a problem. When i get new message i don't know about it, because it appears only in browser window. We are using our own jabber server. I have idea, to send alerts from zimbra server to clients via jabber. Alerts when new message arrive, notification about appointments, etc...

Do you think this is good idea?

How to implement it?

Thank you.

Bo.

What about the Zimbra Toaster, would this accomplish (though not with Jabber) what you are looking for?

Are you sure? I just installed Zimbra Desktop on my Kubuntu 7.04, but i don't see any toaster.

In README.txt is:

Code:
4. On Windows or Mac OS X you can optionally choose to install Zimbra
   Toaster, a new mail notifier.
