    Default bad page state - amavisd

    I just logged into my server and ran dmesg to see if there were any errors to the console. I found the following and was wondering if it was important

    Bad page state at prep_new_page (in process 'amavisd', page 000001009dd614e0)
    flags:0x01000004 mapping:0000000001000000 mapcount:0 count:0
    Backtrace:

    Call Trace:<ffffffff8015da73>{bad_page+112} <ffffffff8015e431>{buffered_rmqueue+520}
    <ffffffff8015e56f>{__alloc_pages+211} <ffffffff801696ee>{do_wp_page+484}
    <ffffffff8016a864>{handle_mm_fault+1235} <ffffffff8015ce9d>{generic_file_aio_read+48}
    <ffffffff80179bc1>{do_sync_read+178} <ffffffff801880ce>{may_open+87}
    <ffffffff801243f4>{do_page_fault+520} <ffffffff80135c64>{autoremove_wake_function+0}
    <ffffffff80193eec>{dnotify_parent+34} <ffffffff80179ce5>{vfs_read+248}
    <ffffffff80110d91>{error_exit+0}
    Trying to fix it up, but a reboot is needed

    If the Zimbra team is interested in trying to get more info I'd be more than willing to help.

    I'd suggest you do a memory check on your system first to make sure it's all OK.

    [edit]I assume this has just started happening? Any other problems in the logs?
    Regards

    yes the problem just started happening, i found similar messages w/timestamps in /var/log/messages

    [root@mail log]# grep -i kernel messages

    i also checked /var/log/messages.* and didn't find any other messages like this. I'm running with 3 sticks of Kingston DDR400 (1024/1024/512). I dont know if i could pull the machine down long enough to run something like memtest.

    I haven't seen any problems like this other than with memory (although I could be wrong), I'd still recommend you take the server down for a check.
