Sure.
But you can't disable the mail tab easily. But you can use it. . .Just set up your hosts file and install.

Although IMHO, you would be crippling it, not to use it for e-mail.

Thanks for your info!

We are looking for a groupware especially with a private and common
calendar function and the possibilty to save documents and addresses.
But at the moment we don't want to give up our mail client Thunderbird.

In this context yet another question:
Is it possible, to use an IMAP mail account in Zimbra?
Zimbra has one inbox and the IMAP account has another inbox.
Is it possible to melt these two inboxes into one under the roof of Zimbra?

Thanks
Bernhard

Thunderbird is not your server backend. Users can still use Thunderbird for an end client, and connect to your Zimbra server(s) via IMAP.

Or you could use the zimbra web interface (like your going to do for calendar anyway), zimbra desktop, outlook (Online, Offline, Cached Mode), Apple Mail and iCal, Eudora, Evolution, Thunderbird, or any other IMAP enabled end client will work smoothly.

Here your talking about just changing the server backend.

Currently you cannot connect to multiple outside IMAP clients in/via the zimbra web interface (like you can with pop external access in the options tab) this functionality/RFE is comming. You could also play with your mail fowarding of whatever outside provider you might use...and mail identities for when you send a reply, etc.

Well, Thunderbird is a great client. I understand that.
Zimbra supports pop3 fetchmail, so you can use that if you wish.

But once you start using the Zimbra Web Client, I promise you'll love it.

You need to elaborate on your setup-ie:
If your users connect to multiple imap accounts-do you control the servers for these?
Write it out, draw it out, take a screenshot of the typical users thunderbird setup (though be sure to cut out private content), whatever-you get the idea
