Installed and restarted. Though I haven't seen logger stop in some time, I'm on 4.5.5 OSS. Though I have seen it on my production system in the first week but haven't since.
Because we all can't be geniuses, I'll go first.

Post Still seeing problem in 4.5.5 NE

    Will run the script.

Btw, logger was demoed as down in the "Zimbra Overview For Admins" webinar yestarday. This could be even more widespread a problem than you know.

can you [point me at something to] briefly describe what logger does? i've frequently noticed it dead, but log/mailbox.log keeps being written to, so i never really thought about it until i saw this thread.

    How simple of an explanation?
Zimbra-Logger includes tools for syslog aggregation, reporting, and message tracing. Installing the Logger package is optional, but if you do not install Logger, Server Statistics and Server Status information is not captured and message tracing is not available.
In environments with more than one Zimbra server, Logger is enabled on only one mailbox server. This server is designated as the “monitor host.” The Zimbra monitor host is responsible for checking the status of all the other Zimbra servers and presenting this information on the Zimbra administration console. The information updates every 10 minutes.

My previous post was premature. Logger stopped again overnight between Fri and Sat.

Also, the admin console disk useage graphs for Last Month and Last Year aren't displaying correctly (but Last Hour and Last Day graphs seem ok). This is always the case even when Logger hasn't stopped. Could this be a symptom of 14945 or something different?

That's why we need your help.
I know what u mean but i don't this think its really random it seems to happen at 2.30am see
    logger stopped by itself

the .out file seems to be removed before the logger is started.

i notice i have to start & stop the logger to get it back so maybe the logger fails on a start (because the .out files are gone)

    Lightbulb logrotate

it seems to be related to the logrotate.

the logger seems to stop at 2.30 the morning after
the /var/log/messages file has been recreated.

Maybe this log file is still in use by zimbra
