    Default Banner Ads

    Hello,

    I have just installed Zimbra and I cannot for the life of me add a javascript banner ad(Adsense or Clicksor) to ZCS. I have successfully added things like "<H2>Ad banner here</H2>" which displays in the proper location but anything containing Javascript seems to fail. I'm sure that there is a simple explanation for this but I'm now at a loss... Any ideas why this might be happening???

    This is what I have added to base.html in the _base theme:

    <!-- BEGIN SKIN -->
    <div id='skin_outer'>
    <table border=0 id='skin_table_outer' class='skin_table' cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0>
    <colgroup>
    <col id='skin_col_tree'>
    <col id='skin_col_tree_app_sash'>
    <col id='skin_col_main'>
    <col id='skin_col_quota'>
    </colgroup>

    <!-- top ad: may or may not be visible -->
    <tr id='skin_tr_top_ad'>
    <td id='skin_td_top_ad' colspan=4>
    <div id='skin_top_ad_outer'>
    <center><span id='skin_container_top_ad'>
    <!-- Your top ad here: leave the 'skin_container_top_ad' in place! -->
    <h2>Ad banner here</h2>
    <script type="text/javascript"><!--
    google_ad_client = "pub-1318609451575985";
    google_ad_width = 234;
    google_ad_height = 60;
    google_ad_format = "234x60_as";
    google_ad_type = "text_image";
    //2007-06-04: 2gomail
    google_ad_channel = "3242846066";
    //-->
    </script>
    <script type="text/javascript"
    src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
    </script>

    <script type='text/javascript'>
    <!--
    //default banner house ad url
    clicksor_default_url = ''
    clicksor_layer_border_color = '';
    clicksor_layer_ad_bg = '';
    clicksor_layer_ad_link_color = '';
    clicksor_layer_ad_text_color = '';
    clicksor_text_link_bg = '';
    clicksor_text_link_color = '';
    clicksor_enable_text_link = true;

    //default pop-under house ad url
    durl = '';
    clicksor_enable_pop = true;
    clicksor_frequencyCap = -1;

    clicksor_banner_image_banner = true;
    clicksor_banner_border = '#99CC33';
    clicksor_banner_ad_bg = '#FFFFFF';
    clicksor_banner_link_color = '#000000';
    clicksor_banner_text_color = '#666666';
    //-->
    </script>
    <script type='text/javascript' src='http://ads.clicksor.com/showAd.php?pid=81198&sid=118261&adtype=2'></script>
    <noscript><a href='http://www.clicksor.com'>online marketing</a></noscript>
    </span></center>
    </div>

    In the AJAX client due to all the layout code this is a bit tricky. In the network version we provide some tools to help with this. Try setting a static height/width to the divs your adding the ads to.

    Thanks for the reply, Kevin

    I'm loading the Network Edition now on Ubuntu 6 which is supposed to be supported and I'm hoping to become a small time hosting provider. I will try adding static heights in the Net edition if there are still problems. Could you tell me where the layout/ad tools that you mention might be found or where I might read up on these?

    I've been experimenting with ad placement using a variety of advertisers and none of the vertical ads seem to work properly with the sidebar ad which is where I really want to place them(blends into the layout better). Initially the ads appear properly but when the browser is resized they disappear. Hard coding width/height in the div does not seem to help. I don't know if there is something obvious that I'm missing or if I need to try to hack the code(but HTML/JS is not my forte). I also set the pixel width in the subs file.

    <div id='skin_sidebar_ad_outer'>
    <div id='skin_container_sidebar_ad'>
    <!-- Your sidebar ad here: leave the 'skin_container_sidebar_ad' in place! -->

    This is where I placed the HTML Ad banner

    </div>
    </div>

    Top ads seem to work OK but the place that is reserved for them doesn't seem good for vertical compactness(ha, that's surely not a word) of the page so I'm going to try to find how to place a small one under the find bar and to the right of the tabs...

    sales@zimbra.com can help get you approved for ad support.
