my notes and question zimbra email server

I have setup and try zimbra at this week,and I have tried Scalix Communtnity Edition month ago, but I dont want Sendmail as MTA server at scalix CE, and I look zimbra good better prospect for future...

and I have more question for zimbra

1. I dont want used clear text password ..and when I used External mail
Client ( thunder bird, etc.. ) but autentification is Reject ..??

2. when I want send email use collaboration suite / webmail , I Cannot look
up LDAP address book on server..?

3. and when I used External mail Client and lookup address book via LDAP
server zimbra, and do not display name ( First and Last name ) account
name only.?
4. why Distribution List ( Group mail ) there is not Display name?

4. When Zimbra full release is launching ..?

Check the logs, /var/log/zimbra.log

You can but in the M2 release, it's not working. It will be fixed in the next release.

If display name is set it will show up.

You can put a description for use in the admin UI, but this does not appear in the search dialog.

We've launched the full release already. If your asking about when it will be out of beta the plan is early 2006.

mypassword is reject , can I used ciphertext/ encrypt password ??

2. And If I look up LDAP server still on the email client, Display name still not display.. account
name only,...ok maybe this is not urgent feature, but will better performance your mail server

3. In the search menu all , email address and Group mail/distribution list..there is not
different..maybe you must give sign,

Do you have auth enabled in the Admin UI (under the MTA tab)?

Yes we've got a RFE to add support for the contact search to tell them apart.

No you must use GAL. We don't have support for public contacts.

Yep, I second that. At least in Thunderbird, the address search result list shows the account name, not the display name. When you look at the properties of the address entry, the field 'Display' is set to the account name.

I tried both auto and explicit settings for Display Name in Zimbra's account management, makes no difference to T-bird (server is M2 on FC4).
