Question multiple mysqld processes

Hi,
I was just curious about the independent mysqld processes on my zimbra server.

zimbra 13206 13149 0 12:53 pts/2 00:00:00 /opt/zimbra/logger/mysql/libexec/mysqld --defaults-file=/opt/zimbra/conf/my.logger.cnf --basedir=/opt/zimbra/logger/mysql --datadir=/opt/zimbra/logger/db/data --pid-file=/opt/zimbra/logger/db/mysql.pid --skip-external-locking --port=7307 --socket=/opt/zimbra/logger/db/mysql.sock
zimbra 13311 13211 0 12:53 pts/2 00:00:00 /opt/zimbra/mysql/libexec/mysqld --defaults-file=/opt/zimbra/conf/my.cnf --basedir=/opt/zimbra/mysql --datadir=/opt/zimbra/db/data --pid-file=/opt/zimbra/db/mysql.pid --skip-external-locking --port=7306 --socket=/opt/zimbra/db/mysql.sock

Are there two dbs running or something? Not that familiar with mysql so maybe that is the problem.

thanks.

Hi Scott,
There are two mysqld processes that operate with Zimbra. One is the mysqld that contains user meta-data, and the other is the logger mysqld processes.
You'll notice that they use two different configuration files: my.conf, and my.logger.conf

You can learn more about them in the wiki:
Logger - ZimbraWiki
and
http://www.zimbra.com/docs/os/latest...ring.11.1.html

Good luck,

john
