I've been testing the distribution lists but came up with a big difference against our actual mail software:
you cannot limit access to the list, that is the list must only receive messages from a moderator(s) and not from anyone.
is there any way to do this ?
It is important to us because we use several lists which members only receive messages, they cannot send because then it will generate messages to everybody creating a sort of local spam.
Correct our distro lists don't include ACL's or the notion of private/public. If you need full maillist type functionlity it's best to use one of the many OSS maillist mgr applications out there. If there is enough demand we'll integrate one into Zimbra.
I would like to put a request in to include some sort of Moderation to the mailing lists. In our company, we use the mailing lists, to create an email@example.com mailing list that the President and 3 other people have access to e-mail to the list. The users can't unsubscribe or subscribe themselves, which have to be done by me as an admin. It works out really well for everyone, and we are currently using ezmlm to do this. I would love to see it included into Zimbra. This and one other feature I am waiting for to move our company to the Networked Version for Outlook.
Thanks so much for your efforts!
Nate what's the other feature?
I would also like to put in my request for Mailing Lists. Thanks!
I realize I'm a little late to the party, but as a service provider, this is a service that our customers are actively demanding. We'll install mlmmj if we have to, but from an end-user administration standpoint, a lot of our users would find it a lot easier if this functionality was built right into their email frontend. Thanks for the consideration!
