Ldap wont start

Hi,

I'm having problems starting Zimbra after the machine was affected by power failure.

Trying to start zimbra i get the following error,

Starting ldap...Done.
FAILED
bdb_db_close: txn_checkpoint failed: Invalid argument (22)
backend_startup_one: bi_db_open failed! (22)
bdb_db_close: alock_close failed
ERROR - failed to start slapd

From one of the previous threads i read something about backing up and restoring ldap, but when i tried i get the following failure

bdb(): Program version 4.2 doesn't match environment version
bdb_db_open: Database cannot be opened, err 22. Restore from backup!
bdb(): DB_ENV->lock_id_free interface requires an environment configured for the locking subsystem
backend_startup_one: bi_db_open failed! (22)
slap_startup failed

Tried searching through other posts for help but none have been able to resolve the problem.

You do have a backup, right?
When's the last time you upgraded?

So, verify LDAP is stopped, and dump your LDAP to disk just for safty sakes.

su - zimbra
openldap/sbin/slapcat -f /opt/zimbra/conf/slapd.conf -l /tmp/ldap.ldif

Let me know if that works!

Correction, that won't fix your data, but hopefully, we can dump the data to disk.

As fate would have it i dont have a backup this time.
LDAP is indeed stopped

No upgrades yet. Its a pretty fresh intsall. Barely been running for two weeks

I'm using 4.5.4.
Its installed on Redhat EL4

Okay so run:

su - zimbra
ps auxx | grep slapd
(make sure it's stopped)
/opt/zimbra/sleepycat/bin/db_recover -h /opt/zimbra/openldap-data/
ldap start

Let us know if that starts it up.

If it does, then
UPGRADE TO 4.5.5 NOW!~

Whew! ok now LDAP starts,
it gave me the following error

but i will take ur advice and do the upgrade immediately

SIGH OF RELIEF!!!

Thanks alot, server is back up and running. All accounts and mail still in place.

Now i'll make sure that all is always backed up.
