Question [SOLVED] Changing the Backup Path

Good Morning All,

I wanting to change the path of where the backup saves the files to, but when ever I change it, it changes back to the default of /opt/zimbra/backup each and every time I leave that part of the menu. I've had a look thru the forums and other doco and they just say, change it to what you want. I'm sorry but that does not work

I'm sure there is a "zm" command I need to run to set the new target, but I cant find it anywhere, please can some one help ? Just to let you know I'll be setting the path to a directory with is using autofs to save it to my SAN, so it is backed up on the RAID system.

Thanks

I was able to insert my mounted usbdrive as my backup target in the admin UI and as of checking it a minute ago it was working fine.

Look at the date of this thread-The backup tab in global settings is a new development.

He was talking about entering it in the path bar of the backup list area.

The old method was: Changing Backup directory and General Information - ZimbraWiki

As of 4.5.6 the backup tab allows for setting:
zimbraBackupTarget
z
imbraBackupReportEmailSubjectPrefix
zimbraBackupReportEmailSender
zimbraBackupReportEmailRecipients
These we're added in RFE: Bug 12442 - Backup/restore: add support for notification

-Added the note about the new tab/attributes to the wiki doc

Hello,

I'm having the same issue mentioned in the initial post, I change the path in the Backup Tab and it just reverts to default once I leave the tab.

I also checked to see if I could change the setting using zmprov, but the only settings in there are:

/opt/zimbra/bin/zmprov gacf | grep zimbraBackup
zimbraBackupReportEmailRecipients: admin@somewhere
zimbraBackupReportEmailSender: postmaster@somewhere

Have I missed something? Do something wrong?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Thumbs up

I figured this out.

I was on the wrong location.

Tools / Backups

I found the correct location to change the backup target

Configuration / Global Settings / "Backup/Restore"

All this is in the Admin GUI

and it works :-)
