Unhappy Behaviors / Features tied to PostFix

I recently changed the Webmail MTA to be an external MTA and bypass Postfix so that I could handle split domains, and I noticed that in doing so, Zimbra has lost the ability to masquerade via the zimbraMailCatchAllCanonicalAddress feature. I'm assuming that this is because the address rewrite was being handled in Postfix. Does anybody have a moderately authoritative list of all the features that will stop working without using Postfix as the first hop off of Zimbra?

Oh yes. We integrate heavely with postfix. I got a nice lesson today about how much we integrate.

So to answer your question, no. When that day comes, a windows build will come.

Could you be more explicit about this integration? If bypassing it is so devastating, why is the option available (in the GUI no less) to set a webmail MTA and thus skipping this phase.

Is there any documentation about exactly what processes take place within Postfix so that administrators know exactly what they are walking into by setting the webmail MTA? Is there some place I can find information more detailed than the Admin guide, but less overwhelming than reading the source code?

I'm trying to become a Zimbra master so that we can do some customization, but am not really sure where to go next for information.

I can't answer your question specifically, but I can tell you that we have an email content checking server that is used to scan all email messages (internal, external; incoming, outgoing). I have this server set as the web mail MTA and have not run into no issues with Zimbra at all. Of course, I've had it set like this since day one, so maybe I just don't know what we're missing. If there are issues with this type of configuration I'd be just as interested as you to hear about them.
