Default Problems disconnecting ssh session after zmcontrol stop /start?

I have tried Zimbra under CentOS 4.4 32 bit, CentOS 4.4 64 bit and now RHEL 4 64 bit and see the same behavior with my ssh sessions. I am using putty 0.58

I connect in this fashion
ssh bowergo
su – root
su – zimbra

When I exit out at the end my putty window closes, most of the time. It seems to me that the sessions that do not close are sessions that I execute a zmcontrol stop and a zmcontrol start.

Anyone else see this behavior or can anyone offer an explanation or fix?

I see a new version of putty that I am going to grab. 0.59 2007-01-24

Wow. That's a new one.

When you are having this problem, try to open another SSH session, and SSH to your box. Then run top and see if anything is eating cpu cycles.

I've actually seen the same thing happen with both Putty and Konsole on Linux, but not necessarily with anything related to Zimbra; just in general an ssh session not properly disconnecting. I just close out of the app, or sometimes kill off the ssh session locally. As far as I know doing this has never left any runaway processes on the remote host or anything like that.

I really don't think this is anything to worry about, and I'm pretty sure it is not a Zimbra problem. (Others may disagree.)

Nothing odd in top, during or after failed exit attempt or when I close the Window and the session. These processes ended when I closed the Window

root 32313 0.0 0.0 37084 2576 ? Ss 09:46 0:00 sshd: bowergo [priv]
bowergo 32318 0.0 0.0 37228 1780 ? S 09:46 0:00 sshd: bowergo@notty

Also it only took 1 attempt to duplicate this exit problem.

ssh bowergo
su - root
su - zimbra
zmcontrol status
zmcontrol stop
zmcontrol start
zmcontrol status
exit
exit
exit

It is not a problem, it is just an odd behavior.

Also I did upgrade to putty 0.59

I have the same thing happen when I connect to Fedora Core 4 from putty 0.59. If I had to guess, it is because Red Hat clears the screen after you exit and putty or konsole doesn't like that??? Either way, it isn't a Zimbra problem.
